2. Pysanka Review
A pysanka (plural: pysanky) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The designs are not painted on, but instead are written with beeswax. The word pysanka comes from the word pysaty, which means to write in Ukrainian.
Traditionally, symbols placed on pysanky had a special meaning and the designer would pick symbols that had a special meaning for them. Or they would even pick designs in hopes of something happening in the future. For example, if they were worried about their health or a family member’s health, they would draw symbols that represent health, in hopes of having good health in the coming year. Or if they were hoping to have good crops in the coming year, they would use symbols that represent crops. Click here to see how pysanky are made youtu.be/MMdoPYNnZjY
